This is not just a trip for those interested in geology – anyone with a love of nature and stunning landscapes should join us on this very special Iceland superjeep excursion to the highlands. Before reaching Landmannalagur, head to Mount Hekla. Drive to magnificant Thjorsardalur, the valley through which Thjorsa, Iceland‘s longest river flows. Stop at a volcanic crater, now filled with a cobalt blue lake, Ljotipollur, where the rust-red crater walls glisten and sparkle.

At Landmannalaugar, colourful rhyolite mountains fill the views and evidence of geothermal activity is everywhere with lava flows, hot springs and naturally heated rivers criss-crossing the land at every turn. Bring a swimsuit and take the opportunity to bathe in this naturally heated water then take a walk on ash through the extensive lava fields that lead to the mountainous slopes. Visit Frostastadavatn, a beautiful blue lake flanked by moss-covered lava flows and strange rock formations.

Mike Richards, UK Another awesome trip with Superjeep. A huge thank-you to Kristjan for taking us places you just can't go in your own car or by bus. Even if the landscape wasn't breathtaking (which it is), some of the roads driven on this trip will take your breath away - up a volcano? no problem! through rivers? absolutely! across an ashy desert with no sign of life? easy! Superjeep might be more expensive than taking a bus trip to see Iceland, but you will see things you won't believe, go places you've never heard of (and certainly can't pronounce) and have the best time of your holiday! Maureen Taylor, United Kingdom The description of the trip would appear to be for the summertime. We went in March when the roads were closed with snow, so we didn't see quite what we expected. BUT what we did see took our breath away. A beautiful snowy pristine landscape with not another person for many miles. Our driver was great, we saw fabulous scenery, including a frozen waterfall, which summer visitors wouldn't see. We got to bathe in the hot springs, surrounded by snow and it was magical.And we had the place to ourselves. Priceless. Thank you to our driver for a fantastic day. 19.03.2012

Joanna Scudamore-Trezek, Austria My mum (Val Winch) and I just wanted to say a big THANK YOU to Helmut, Jacob and Orri - we went on a total of 3 superjeep adventures, and boy, are we glad we did! Our Iceland holiday was more than unforgettable. Thanks to Helmut for taking us to Landmannalaugar,where we learnt about the mechanics of super jeep suspensions and their ability to climb the 45 degree slopes of Hekla in the fog! Thanks Jacob for not laughing as we slipped around on the Langjökull glacier and for bringing us down safely again, and thanks Orri for taking us to the beach as an added extra after racing through rivers in the Markarfklót valley! We felt we were in very safe and experienced hands and are delighted to recommend super jeep to anyone wanting to avoid the crowds, get a chance to talk to real Icelanders and learn much more about the country. Carol Mayl, United Kingdom This was our second tour of the week and because of the snowy conditions we went in an even bigger super jeep!! The tour didn't quite go as advertised, but it was a brilliant day and we saw some different sites to those advertised. Due to the conditions we could not travel some of the roads to get places. But the things that replace the bits we couldn't do was just as fun. The guide was very skillful at driving, and taught us a lot about driving in the snow. It was a lot of fun, and I couldn't imagine seeing Iceland in any other way. Iceland has a lot of beautiful sights to see and well worth the trip. 27.02.2008

John, Sarah, Isaac & Freya Rooke, United Kingdom WOW! - this is a must do trip whatever time of year. Due to the warmer winter weather conditions this trip was modified especially for us. As a family we love off-roading and this trip exceeded our expectations. The Land Rover was very comfortable, warm with impressive capabilities. It was a pleasure to be in the company of our guide and driver who was extremely knowledgeable, informative and courteous. The scenery was spectacular and captivating.
