Get Off the Beaten Track on a ½ Day Safari

When Icelanders need to recharge, they go out into Icelandic nature. The stunning and sometimes surreal natural beauty of the landscape has a relaxing and healing effect and attracts visitors from around the world. The mountain and glacier views, crystal clear waters and black sand beaches make you want to dive right in and bask in as much of Iceland’s wilderness as possible. For the outdoor enthusiast without much time to spend in Iceland, spending half a day (4-5 hours) exploring in a Superjeep on the Off-road Express ½ Day Safari is perfect.

Get Out of Reykjavík

Put on your layers, strap on your boots, hop in our Superjeep and you’re ready to get a taste of Iceland’s wild side. If you want to experience and not just see Icelandic nature, you’ve got to leave the paved roads behind. We’ll leave the Reykjavik city limits in the dust and trade in the pavement for a rough track road leading up a mountain. Once we reach the top, you’ll be treated to a view of the city spread out before you. From the top of the mountain, you’ll wave good-bye to the city and continue on your off-road excursion.

Cross a River

After heading down the mountain, you’ll drive into a geothermal mountain park where you’ll get to enjoy one of the best things about traveling in a Superjeep––splashing through streams and rivers. Because our jeeps have oversized tires, waterproofed engines and snorkels, river crossings are a breeze and can be downright fun. Make no mistake, it’s not that Icelanders drive around looking for rivers to drive through (not all rivers are safe to cross), it’s just that all the gorgeous glaciers, hot springs and waterfalls in Iceland produce lots of streams and rivers and sometimes those rivers cross rough track roads. And when stream, track road and Superjeep meet, a splashing good time will most certainly be had.

Head to the Beach

From river splashing in a mountain park you’ll move on to a volcanic sand beach with a breathtaking ocean view. You’ll take the Superjeep right down onto the black sand beach. Once you’re there you can walk along the dark sands, listen to the waves crashing onto the beach and the breeze rushing through the tall grasses along the shore.

The great thing about exploring Iceland in a Superjeep is that you can get to just about anywhere and we’re ready to take you there
